Llamas and Alpacas were domesticated by the native South Americans 6300 years ago. The gentle, curious and charming personality of these animals inspired the natives to call them Speechless Friends, a name we have adopted for the products we produce from our llama &alpaca wool.
The llama & alpaca wool in most of our products originates with llamas & alpacas that were born, raised and sheared by us on our farm. The llamas & alpacas think this is pretty special. So do we - and we hope you will too! Click on the button below for our Product Catalogue.
Llama and alpaca fibre is renowned around the world for its exceptional softness, durability, and natural performance. Valued for centuries, it is one of nature's finest luxury fibres, offering comfort, beauty, and functionality in every garment.
Llama and alpaca fibre has a silky, smooth texture that feels wonderfully soft against the skin. High-quality fibre is comfortable enough to be worn next to the skin, making it ideal for scarves, hats, socks, sweaters, and other apparel.
Unlike sheep's wool, alpaca and llama fibre contains very little lanolin. This makes it an excellent choice for many people who find traditional wool irritating, while providing an incredibly soft and comfortable feel.
Each fibre contains microscopic air pockets that create excellent natural insulation. This unique structure helps keep you warm in cold weather while remaining lightweight and breathable.
Llama and alpaca fibre is naturally strong and resilient. Despite its fine, luxurious feel, it maintains excellent durability, helping garments retain their beauty and performance for years.
The fibre naturally wicks moisture away from the body, helping regulate temperature while reducing dampness and odor. This makes it well suited for both everyday wear and outdoor activities.
Llamas and alpacas produce fibre in an impressive range of natural colours, with more than 22 genetically distinct shades and countless subtle variations. These beautiful natural colours often require little or no dyeing, showcasing the fibre's authentic beauty.
When colour is desired, llama and alpaca fibre readily accepts dyes while maintaining its natural luster and softness, resulting in rich, vibrant colours.
Because the supply of high-quality llama and alpaca fibre is limited, it is considered a premium natural fibre. Products made from it represent exceptional craftsmanship, comfort, and longevity—an investment in quality that can be enjoyed for many years.
